Robust sliding mode controller for buck DC converter in off-grid applications

This paper presents a robust sliding mode controller of DC-DC buck converter for renewable energy applications, such as photovoltaic systems in off-grid configurations. Photovoltaic configuration are exposed to significant variations input voltage and power loads. The proposed simple efficient method continuously updating the duty cycle pulse width modulation unit (PWM) converter. PWM is operated at constant switching frequency 10 kHz carrier signal varying cycle. differences load treated two bounded uncertainties, thus eliminating need sensor output current sensors leaving system with single required measure voltage. That is, measured compared reference update average value unit. Adjustment performed while maintaining condition always fulfilled. simulation results showed robustness accuracy against fluctuation, changes desired voltage, supply that may result from level irradiance temperature.
